Design

The project involved a full re-design of the lighting layout to provide consistent, high-quality illumination suitable for a modern office environment. Key design considerations included, out-of-hours and weekend work options available (40–60% additional cost).

  • LED Technology:
    • Solid-state design, 50,000 hours / 17 years in office use
    • 4000k daylight equivalent
    • Uniform light distribution across office floors and individual workspaces
  • Ceiling Integration:
    • Existing ceiling grids reused where possible
    • Replacement of all ceiling tiles with acoustic and thermal insulated tiles throughout
  • Motion Sensors:
    • Motion sensors configured to avoid constant switching on/off, maintaining staff comfort
    • Reduction in energy consumption
  • Lux Enhancement:
    • Existing 200lux levels upgraded to 350lux
    • More even distribution reduces eye strain and enhances productivity
  • Retrofit Challenges:
    • Many existing fittings were non-standard sizes, requiring bespoke replacement
    • New design created a linear and uniform light spread while utilising existing wiring

Results

The LED upgrade and ceiling replacement delivered significant operational, environmental, and financial benefits. Our design and installation gave our client more flexibility in managing energy consumption in post covid flexible working contracts across all floors.
